The Monster Storm Fern

"It's been a long time coming, Gonna be a long time gone" writes Crosby, Stills, and Nash"
The storm, Fern I would think would qualify as a blizzard has wreaked havoc across the country.
The storm hit especially hard and dangerous for those of us in the Middle Tennessee area and further south. It is not unusable  for a snowfall in the winter, but as for the freezing rain and sub zero temperatures is fortunately not as common. These storms put tremendous strain on the infrastructure and frayed nerves of the residents as to the safety and property. Businesses closed damaged by stress and water damage from busted pipes. People having to leave there animals and houses at the mercy of Fern.
Giving the forecasters there due, I planned to move from East Nashville to my sisters in Murfreesboro to wait out the storm. I am very fortunate to have such an out and hospitable sister and brother,-in-law to take me in for a time.
Power outages another major problem. Down lines that are live and dangerous to the general public and to be handled by power company line workers. As I was settling in I received word on Saturday morning after the storm had moved in that my neighbors power was out because of their power power line was down and across my driveway to the house that sits on a steep hill. They had to be relocated as quick as could be arranged. They are and as for me as well, are as they say of a certain age. Fortunately they too have relatives in the neighborhood. It was still Sunday morning before they got out. Our young neighbor was the hero of that day.
Now I mentioned concern over our animals. These storms can be deadly for man and our animal friends. I hate to think of the ones that got caught out in this storm. I my self had to leave my lovable tortuous colored  cat. Left her with plenty supplies and access to  water and 2 litter boxes.  My power did not go out,so she shouldn't get cold. Cats have survived since Cleopatra.

The final thought . I have heard many stories of trees falling on cars and leaving people stranded. power just now being restored to many and it's Tuesday afternoon 27Jan 2026.  As for me and my little cat"s we are caught at the leftover of Fern. The cost of this storm will be measured for months. "It's gonna be a long time gone."
